Why you no longer need to reel into Instagram. 

Let me explain that one.

"To reel" means according to the Macmillan dictionary to move backwards quickly; move in a way that is not steady; feel very shocked, upset, or confused.

Let me take the confusion away about Instagram Reels.

What is Instagram Reels?

Instagram Reels is an Instagram's short-form video feature, Reels allows users to create 15-second clips, like TikTok, and share them publicly or with friends within the Instagram app.

How to use Instagram Reels

1. To get started with Reels, open the Instagram Stories camera and tap Reels.
2. Use the editing tools: - sound :you can add a pre-recorded sound from other users or Reels' featured song list to your content. - Playback Speed: you can use this to speed up or slow down content. - Effects: you can add stickers and filter effects to your video.- Timer: Use this to set recording time for your clip.
3. Publish your Reel
4. View your Reels: once you've published one or more Reels, this content will appear on the Explore page, and as a tab on your profile.
5. Share your Reel : post them to your feed which will also cause them to appear on your main profile grid. Reels can also be sent as direct messages or even posted to your Instagram Stories.

The future

It was not the first attempt of Facebook to respond to the TikTok threat when it launched Instagram Reels in August this year, In 2018 Facebook launched a TikTok clone called Lasso but the app didn’t take off and was send to the digital graveyard this year.

With TikTok’s uncertain future in the U.S. as the Trump administration weighs either banning the Chinese-owned app entirely or forcing it to sell off its U.S. operations, will this new app from Facebook take over? 

I don't know.

The competition is there already: Google with his Tangi app, YouTube with his "shorts" and then there are plenty of other players aiming for the same audience like Byte and Likee.
