When your son asks for money

It's not unusual for a parent to get asked for money by your children.

This is the story of a son asking for money from his father.

The story

Son: "Daddy, can I ask you something?"
Father: “Yes, of course. What is it?”

Son: “How much do you earn per hour?”
Father: "It's none of your business. Why do you want to know that?"

Son: "Just want to know Dad, just say..."
Father: “Well, if you really want to know, I earn 80 euros per hour. "

Son: "Wow!" (and bows his head)
Son: "Daddy, can I borrow 40 euros from you?"

The father was now angry.

Father: "If you only ask for that money for a stupid toy or whatever you want to buy, you can go straight to your room! I don't work for that!"

The little boy was disappointed, went to his room and closed the door. The father only grew angrier at the thought of his son's question.

After an hour, the man had calmed down somewhat and sank in a thought. Maybe he wanted to buy something he really needed. He went to his son's room and opened the door.

Father: “Are you asleep yet?”

Son: “No Dad, not yet,”

Father: "Sorry for my response. I overreacted a bit. I've had a long day, and I took my irritation out on you. Here's the $40 you asked for."

The son jumped up, and a big smile came on his face!

Son: “Thank you Dad!”

The son reached under his pillow and pulled out a stack of bills.
The father saw this and wanted to get angry again. The son started counting the bills and looked up at his father.

Father: "Why do you want more money when you already have money?"
Son: "Because I didn't have enough daddy, but now I do."

"Dad, I now have 80 euros. Can I buy an hour of your time? I want you to come home on time from work tomorrow. Don't have to check your emails. Work on your online business so we can spend some time together."

The father broke down in tears. He hugged his son and asked for forgiveness.

This is just a reminder for anyone who works hard in life.

More than a year ago, I was in the situation as the story describes...

When my youngest son asked me to spend more time with him, he told me I was always working and even was questioning my love for him.

As a young child, a father is everything. You look up at him.

It was a blow that hit me hard: I did not see I was breaking my son's heart.

I shed a few tears myself.

While he supports me fully to get my online business rolling, I realized I was sacrificing too much.

You can't just do your own thing day in and day out without spending time with the ones that really matter, namely the ones close to your heart.

If you die tomorrow, your family and friends will carry the loss with them for the rest of their lives.

There are many people on this globe who spend more time on their work/own business than their family, and that's pretty sad.

And I was one of them.

Some things are simply more important.

Family is not an important thing. It's everything.

All the best,

Luc
